FDR High School: Robotics

Intensive (Brooklyn 2025)

For this student intensive, artist Vince Ballentine and Yasmine Rodriguez worked with FDR High School’s Robotics Club students to design and produce two new murals reflecting themes of robotics and data science. The students had a very clear vision of what they wanted, and Vince incorporated their ideas in two unified designs.

For the Robotics mural, students were inspired by the Marvel character Iron Man and the school’s mascot. They imagined the Iron Leopard surrounded by a cadre of robots that the students created in their Robotics 1 and 2 classes.

The Data Science mural draws dual inspiration from the students’ proficiency in coding and their diverse majors, including finance, business, biotech, and computer science. The school’s mascot enters this world using a VR headset.
