BMCC Students Visit DOE Arts Office Studio to Record Original R.H.Y.M.E. Track
This week, Thrive Collective’s R.H.Y.M.E. (Rhymes Help Young Minds Excel) program took BMCC students on an inspiring field trip to the recording studio at the newly constructed Arts Hub at the NYC Department of Education Arts Office in Brooklyn. They were the first RHYME cohort to record there, as they laid down vocals for their original song, “Break Through.”
Guided by R.H.Y.M.E. teaching artists Caleb Giles, JSWISS, and Baz—a former R.H.Y.M.E. student turned intern—the BMCC students transformed their ideas into a fully produced track. “Break Through” captures their collective desire for freedom in all aspects of life, blending honest lyricism with the raw energy of young creatives finding their voice.
A special thank-you to the DOE Arts Office for welcoming us into the state-of-the-art Arts Hub studio and giving students an unforgettable hands-on experience in music creation. The BMCC student song and music video will premiere on campus on December 11th.
