Thrive Collective R.H.Y.M.E. Summer Intensive at MS 117: Empowering Youth Through Music

This summer, Thrive Collective’s R.H.Y.M.E. (Rhymes Help Young Minds Excel) program launched an inspiring summer intensive at MS 117, in collaboration with the NYC Council and The Beacon Program, led by hip-hop teaching artist Randy Mason.

Throughout the program, students met with Randy to explore the foundations of songwriting, freestyle rap, beat making, and audio recording. Using Splice, a beat-making software, they created original beats and wrote powerful lyrics centered on the theme of being “Unstoppable.”

The students then recorded their original lyrics and filmed a music video, captured by Eric Mason.
