M.S 279 Life’s a Ride

R.H.Y.M.E is proud to celebrate another dynamic collaboration with M.S. 279 Captain Manuel Rivera, Jr. sponsored by New York City Council member Pierina Sanchez.

“Life’s a Ride” is an an original song and music video written and performed by M.S 279 middle school students with guidance from Thrive Collective teaching artists, Jamell Ogbonna, Caleb Giles and Dj Ty King. Over the course of 12 weeks students explored Hip Hop music, culture, history and the cultural significance of Hip Hop in NYC and around the world. The program culminated in an original student produced song inspired by the metaphor – life’s a ride. Writing and producing an original song for the first time is surely a ride the students are likely to never forget.
