After-School Interdisciplinary Art Academy | Bronx Arts Middle School

At Bronx Arts Middle School, THRIVE Collective’s R.H.Y.M.E program, B.E.A.T.S program and murals program brought the power of hip-hop and the arts to life through a vibrant, interdisciplinary after-school Art Academy. Meeting twice a week, students engaged in hands-on creative sessions led by a team of professional teaching artists.

Under the mentorship of Caleb Giles and Randy Mason, students explored the art of rap and songwriting. Brandon Henriquez and DJ Ty King introduced students to the fundamentals of DJing, while Nico Collazo guided them through the world of graffiti and mural-making.

Throughout the program, students discovered how music and visual art can serve as powerful tools for health, wellness, and self-expression. They also developed essential life skills such as communication, collaboration, goal-setting, and working toward a shared vision.

The 2025 Art Academy culminates in a student-produced original song, music video, collaborative mural, and live DJ set—showcasing the creativity, growth, and collective spirit of the Bronx Arts community.

THRIVE Collective has proudly partnered with Bronx Arts since 2021, continuing its mission to inspire hope and opportunity through arts education and mentorship.
