Our friends at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office asked us to bring the Art of Healing Workshops to 135 Street for Harlem Week on August 17, 2025. Every year since 1974, the Harlem Day block party punctuates the festivities and brings Harlem Week to a close. This 51st annual finale featured three stages of entertainment, the Harlem Health Village, Harlem Broadway Row, Performances from Broadway productions, local, national and international artists in various musical genres from Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop, Gospel, Reggae, Soca, Latin and more. Plus hundreds of food vendors, arts & crafts, music, jewelry, hats, sculptors, corporate exhibitors, and games. What an honor to participate.

Teaching artists Lola and Raissa brought spray paint and acrylic brush activities that resulted in two new murals in just over two hours painted by the community:

  • “Love Heals” with spray paint, facilitated by Lola Lovenotes
  • “Art Heals” with brush paint, facilitated by Raissa Oliveira Da Silva
