Projectivity partnered with Benjamin Tasker Middle Schools’s Leo Club for a mural program with the Bowie Lions Club in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Led by artists Christian Penn and Ryan Mizta, students worked together to develop visuals related to the Lions Club pillars of service. Their motto is “We Serve,” and some of their initiatives that are referenced in the mural include:
- Planting oak trees
- Donating food and vegetables
- Planting tulips
- Donating glasses for vision impaired
- Disaster relief
- Diabetes and children’s cancer support
- Creating pine cone bird feeders
- Painting rain barrels
After a series of workshops, students and the community helped complete the mural throughout April and early May, and celebrated with a ribbon cutting on May 22. This is one of the largest murals in Old Bowie, and with it, we hope to inspire more public art throughout the city.
Thank you to Lions Club member Ann Fleming for connecting all the dots.
This project was sponsored by the the City of Bowie, Maryland.
