Artist Marissa Molina designed two murals as part of the Soundview Academy for Culture and Scholarship mural makeover in 2025.
Stairwell B is the 6th grade exit, so the school wanted to fill that doorway with imagery of dreaming big and welcoming the youth to their future. Within this mural is a large globe with the words dream big in the center of it A book opens from the globe, revealing a diploma, music notes, a microscope, a plane, an artist palette, a soccer ball, the sun, molecules, magnifying glass, a wifi symbol, stars, and coding emanating from within. This range shows the wide array of possibilities students may explore. Rooted at the bottom of the mural, students look upwards as they imagine their futures.
The Stairwell C mural theme celebrates the school’s diversity, and embraces one another. As a secondary theme, the mural highlights the school’s cultural and arts community. To the left of the mural is a globe with banners floating out of it and hands holding it. From there, multicultural students gather together showing a general sense of community between them. In the background are positive words and affirmations.
